Wellstone Filters to Distribute in Eastern Europe

DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wellstone Filters (OTC Bulletin Board: WLSF - News) announced today that its representative in Eastern Europe is meeting with potential manufacturers and distributors of Wellstone's line of cigarettes in Russia and Ukraine. The Eastern European cigarette market is rapidly growing, and constitutes one of the principal industries receiving foreign investment in the former Soviet Bloc.

In Russia, the fourth largest tobacco market in the world, 70% of men and 30% of women smoke, with similar percentages for Ukraine and Belarus. The industry trends in Russia and Ukraine are different -- In Russia consumers are moving toward less expensive filter cigarettes, while Ukrainians are moving up to medium and premium cigarettes as economic conditions improve. In all of the region smokers are not brand loyal and there is ample opportunity for a new brand to earn market share.
