Here is an interesting article in this morning's news about upcoming first flight for the new 747-8 which will be flown for the first time soon http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/02/we-fly-boeings-new-747-8-part-2/

Another literary recommendation is the book Free Flight by James Fallows. Jim documents how the Cirrus evolved from concept to production reality. This is a great read and addresses foundation issues associated with Technically Advanced Aircraft or TAA.

Glad you successfully dealt with the crosswinds. Going around and practice make for an excellent pilot education.
