AQUACROP

AquaCrop is the FAO crop-model to simulate yield response to water of several herbaceous crops. It is designed to balance simplicity, accuracy and robustness, and is particularly suited to address conditions where water is a key limiting factor in crop production. AquaCrop is a companion tool for a wide range of users and applications.

AquaCrop: a new model for crop prediction under water deficit conditions
http://www.fao.org/nr/water/docs/Stedutoetal2008.pdf

Applications of AquaCrop include:

•assessing water-limited, attainable crop yields at a given geographical location
•as a benchmarking tool, comparing the attainable yields against actual yields of a field, farm, or region, to identify the yield gap and the constraints limiting crop production
•assessing rainfed crop production on the long term
•developing irrigation schedules for maximum production (seasonal strategies and operational decision-making), and for different climate scenarios
•scheduling deficit and supplemental irrigation
•evaluating the impact of fixed delivery irrigation schedules on attainable yields
•simulating crop sequences
•carrying out future climate scenario analyses
•optimizing a limited amount of water available (economic, equitability, and sustainability criteria)
•evaluating the impact of low fertility and of water-fertility interactions on yields
•assessing actual water productivity (biological and/or economic) at the field and higher scales, up to regions
•supporting decision making on water allocation and other water policy actions
•appraising the role of various water-related crop responses in yield determination for ideotype design

AQUASTAT

AQUASTAT is FAO's global information system on water and agriculture.
It collects, analyses and disseminates data and information by country and by region. Its aim is to provide users interested in global, regional and national analyses with comprehensive information related to water resources and agricultural water management across the world, with emphasis on countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Among the information available: main country database; Databases on African dams, on institutions, on river sediment yields, and on investment costs in irrigation

CropWat

CROPWAT is a decision support system developed by the Land and Water Development Division of FAO. CROPWAT is meant as a practical tool to help agro-meteorologists, agronomists and irrigation engineers to carry out standard calculations for evapotranspiration and crop water use studies, and more specifically the design and management of irrigation schemes.

CROPWAT 8.0 for Windows is a computer program for the calculation of crop water requirements and irrigation requirements based on soil, climate and crop data. In addition, the program allows the development of irrigation schedules for different management conditions and the calculation of scheme water supply for varying crop patterns. CROPWAT 8.0 can also be used to evaluate farmers’ irrigation practices and to estimate crop performance under both rainfed and irrigated conditions.

All calculation procedures used in CROPWAT 8.0 are based on the two FAO publications of the Irrigation and Drainage Series, namely, No. 56 "Crop Evapotranspiration - Guidelines for computing crop water requirements” and No. 33 titled "Yield response to water".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Climwat
Climwat is a climatic database to be used in combination with the computer program CROPWAT. It includes data from a total of 3262 meteorological stations from 144 countries.

CLIMWAT is a climatic database to be used in combination with the computer program CROPWAT. and allows the calculation of crop water requirements, irrigation supply and irrigation scheduling for various crops for a range of climatological stations worldwide.

CLIMWAT 2.0 for CROPWAT is a joint publication of the Water Development and Management Unit and the Climate Change and Bioenergy Unit of FAO.

CLIMWAT 2.0 offers observed agroclimatic data of over 5000 stations worldwide distributed as shown below.

Capacity Development for Water in Agriculture
Finding suitable Education and Training Courses in Irrigation, Drainage and Flood Control.

This database is a joint initiative of the Water Resources, Development and Management Service of FAO and the International Programme for Technology and Research in Irrigation and Drainage (IPTRID). It is a meeting point for both, people in search of capacity development opportunities for water in agriculture and those offering courses/events in this area. The database contains relevant information on course/event provider, duration, target group as well as contact information in order to obtain further details.

ETo Calculator
ETo calculator is a software developed by the Land and Water Division of FAO. Its main function is to calculate Reference evapotranspiration (ETo) according to FAO standards.

WaterLex

WATERLEX is a searchable database established by FAO legal experts. The database represents a great utility to lawmakers, policymakers, researchers, lawyers, water technicians and, in general, government officials around the world who want to know more about the legislative and regulatory framework for water. The legislative database contains an analysis of the legal framework governing water resources in a large number of countries.

Irrigation equipment supply (IES)
This database is a joint initiative of the Water Resources, Development and Management Service of FAO and the International Programme for Technology and Research in Irrigation and Drainage (IPTRID). It has been developed as part of FAO's mandate to provide information on irrigation. Potential beneficiaries of IES are those who need to locate information on irrigation equipment at regional or country level.

IES seeks to establish an up-to-date list of Suppliers/Manufacturers providing irrigation equipment worldwide. National Suppliers/Manufacturers can be displayed by clicking the dark blue countries on the map. Moreover, the website offers a database query facility for identifying Suppliers/Manufactures providing specific irrigation equipment as well as a description of irrigation equipment, a description of standards and links to other related sites.

Wastewater Database
This database contains information on wastewater production, treatment, re-use, as well as economic information provided by member states.
