Resistance occurs from mutation leading to survival of the fittest and those who are not a meal for some other creature. It was always so. But mutation and drift will not save any virus who we are after. They cannot avoid our attractive cides which look to them as indistinguishable from the very human/animal cells they MUST invade and attach to for their continued existence as an organism. If they avoid the need to attach to a human/animal cell - they have had it and become extinct!
