Be, KoKo, JP: AIM’s patented Aztec symbology is easily distinguished by the characteristic bull’s-eye. This means there is an eye = a center square in the middle of the two subsequent alignment squares. This is clearly not on the YA window. Besides other problems with the YA image being an Aztec, it is also missing the four characteristic orientation marks.

There was, without a doubt, NO attempt to design the window as an Aztec symbology. That means it is NOT any of the 2D barcodes processed by NeoMedia. It is also likely not a barcode at all. Yet some actually encouraged others to invest because of the strength of that YA image.

It is a little disconcerting three long-time barcode followers can’t distinguish a real 2D code from a random pattern. How can we expect consumers to know what it is? On the same subject, one of my saleswomen just presented a QR campaign to a client. The client was furious! She said, “I thought we were using barcodes!” We switched it to code 39 – which is still mobile-friendly.

Be: Despite that you “have almost no time during the week to read any post,” it seems you still have time for mine. Thanks for following. Where did you get the idea NeoMedia is known for Aztec? They actually prefer datamatrix – but that is going to change in the next year.

To be fair, Bena’s job is not to recognize a barcode from random geometric design. She had no reason not to take YA at its word. We should all take YA at its word. They are always real honest. It is always refreshing to see you are still Confident about their intentions. Despite still holding my entire shares, I am starting to feel Not Confident.
