Must read, nothing to do with Access Plans.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said his office has sent investigative subpoenas to 22 prominent merchants, including Barnes & Noble, Priceline and Pizza Hut, that allowed the marketing companies Affinion, Vertrue and Webloyalty to piggyback on their Web sites.

This could be a way for Access Plans to gain some new customers. I see them as being the legimate way for companies to give these discounts. The only reason major companies do this online form of program, is they get a nice cut for letting the 3 mentioned marketers have access.

Access Plans deal with Rent a Center is in store, at point of purchase, so there is no deception or faulty clicking kind of fraudulent feeling to it.

The big three are now either going to make it more clear you are registering for a monthly discount program by clicking to get a discount on the purchase. But the damage is being done. Having an in store program that Access offers would be a much safer legimate program for them to get a little more revenue.
