Question on trading--

I had a bid on a stock at 3.05. There was a buy at 3.00 well after my order was placed. I was told that the market maker bot at 3.00 but his sell offer is at 3.09, that is why my order was not filled. So, the MM bot for his own account?

Does that make sense?
