Here is a good reason not to panic and sell out of fear. Back in 1987 I bought 10 shares of a new company that was publicly trading for less than a year. I have seen the company rise fairly decently for a few months and decided to pull the trigger in September. Well as my luck would have it, the market took a big dump in October (crash of 1987) and I sold the 10 shares at a loss of around $100. Having been spooked, I didn't bother to invest in the market for a long time after that. Well, that fairly new company was Microsoft!! Needless to say that was not a good decision on my part. So to you that panic and sell these undervalued gems today, you could be selling the Chinese version of Microsoft in a heat of panic now and you don't even realize you have it! All I say is that if you believe in the company who's shares you are holding in your portfolio now, then there is no reason to panic and sell out of fear of what the market is doing at this moment in time, otherwise you will definitely regret it as I have with Microsoft.
