My best idea to increase use of the thinning wood was for my company and others to increase the use of the same wood that they send to Raleo. We all make cabinetry, furniture, etc. With more exposure, it could increase ROI for those overdue for thinning. I couldn't do that without seeing some of the lumber that Raleo gets and figuring out if the price we can get for it would beat that 50-65 cent/bd ft. price. This would clear some wood for tatf, get a little revenue going, maybe get some tree owners paid (hopefully the first in line).
I'm sure there is alot of waste, unusable wood, as we have a sawmill and realize alot of loss in a log. However, even if only one board per thinned tree was usable 'plantation', 'green', 'renewable' teak is a desirable alternative to designers and architects here trying to figure out what looks better than bamboo and still can qualify for LEEDS points.
I have a commission based salesman ready to start selling this stuff if I could get answers and samples.
