This is one of the wisest statements ever made. Why? Look at the first part: Give a man a fish and you have fed him for today. It says that if you give a human an object he wants, he will not gain the necessary knowledge to be able to get it for himself. Teach in a way to give another knowledge. Give a man knowledge on how to get things done for himself, and he will be able to get food - fish - for himself. It is like writing an essay for your kid. Write it for him, he won't learn how to write essays. Teach him how to write it, and he will be set and will be able to write essays on his own. I had a much more humble background than Obama. I taught people how to make a living. He taught people how to band together and demand a hand out. I think the quote I used was from a Chinese book. Asus probably knows its origin.
