Who knows why they do what they do? Maybe they are sociopaths, or just greedy, or errand boys for bigger money/bigger players inside or outside the US who really don't care who gets hurt as long as they get the money bag. Could also be that they get an ego kick/boost out of designing and implementing these "clever" little strategems in order to prove that they really are much smarter than the professors who gave them barely passing grades.

IMO, there's a lot more here than meets the eye.

Have you seen the pictures of the guys who run YA?
Kind of reminds me of that movie "Billionaire Boys Club".
