I tell asymptomatic subjects that the test will help them making treatment decisions that can reduce the risk for carriers of gene mutations to develop cancer. Most choose not to be tested but to be monitored more closely



i don't doubt the veracity of this statement, but it is just so irrational to me. for something like ovarian, screening is totally ineffective - every study has shown ca-125 and sono is crap. and it is one of the deadlier cancers. if yo uknow you can intervene to reduce risk (markedly with gonadectomy) why on earth wouldn't you want testing?
i jsut don't get it
