UL listing is a long process... even after submitting every thing they ask for. In one case, I was involved in, everything went as smooth as possible to certification, yet it still took six months, to get the number. This could cause large chains some heartburn. That's why you get the UL approval before the products ship.

Also, insurers of public buildings will not honor claims claims originating from damages resulting from non UL listed systems.
