Yeah, Jackie Wilson!

I remember seeing him a few times growing up; simply electric!

The last time was a couple of weeks before he died. It was in Denver at a mobbish, black club on Colfax Ave. He was overweight, but he still had the voice and a few of the old dance moves. The band was simply a guitar player, a bass player and a drummer; they were enough!

If he'd been white, Jackie Wilson might have been a most extraordinary opera singer, back there in the fifties.
