Well, once again we are talking about another breakthrough in alternative fuel technology and once again we are mentioning the U.S. Navy in the same post. It turns out the U.S. Navy has been testing unmanned hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles for some time now.
The U.S. Naval Research department has just announced an unofficial record of a unmanned fuel cell powered flight time of 23 hours and 17 mins. The UAV is also extremely quite and virtually undetectable from the ground.
The experimental UAV is not only more energy efficient than an internal combustion engine but can also out last an internal combustion engine therefore requiring fewer deployments.
We can only hope this technological breakthrough will quickly make its way into civilian alternative energy technology use so that it help the world fight global climate change.
