Viaspace, the parent company of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell has announced that it is developing methanol-based gadget chargers for the mobiles. It also said that Samsung would be brought as a partner to commercialize this product.
Earlier, Toshiba had introduced a methanol fuel-cell charger called Dynario in Japan. So Viaspace is taking a cue from this development to tap a market share in this gadget sector. However, Dynario is restricted to Japan only.
In the direct methanol fuel cell, methanol is used to react with oxygen to produce electricity. Then the electricity can be used for the electronic devices like mobiles and laptops.
These methanol-based gadget chargers will be useful for the electronic gadgets to store charge for more hours.
The Dynario charger made by Toshiba uses an embedded lithium ion battery to store electricity and can store sufficient charge to run the gadget for a long time.
