I would strongly suspect that the Chinese statement has been taken from the news releases here and they don't say that the trials have been approved , rather, that ACTC hopes that they will be approved. There is a distinct difference. I very much doubt that the news would be released to an individual journalist 1/2 way around the world in a foreign country before being released in the USA or through the international newswire services.
That being said IMO approval has already been given to ACTC to proceed. As someone else stated on another board. Why else would they seek funding on the 24 December, just over 30 days. The post goes on to say that perhaps ACTC was advised to put in for NIH funding by a senior person who might know that they have a good chance of getting it.
