21-Dec-09 01:12 pm When coming out to market with a brand or product, the bigger the existing market the better... We all know that lightbulbs are used by everyone: the average U.S. home uses 45 light bulbs in 30 light fixtures (115 million U.S. households - that's 3.5 billion light fixtures total)...so easy to see why 5.5 million light bulbs are bought everyday in America:

The next step is to buy the patent outright or ensure if possible close ties with the inventor of the product (if there is one) to ensure patent saftey from competiton...in this case ZVTK has a relationship with the inventor of the Ionic Bulb Jason Ryu - he owns shares of ZVTK and is an active partner.

Next, consider the existing competition in your market - in ZVTK's case it is Viatek and their own ionic bulb. Problem for Viatek though, because Jason Ryu the inventor signed contracts with ZVTK - Viatek was sued in court of law and ZVTK won the case. After being sued Viatek now has to pay ZVTK royalties on every bulb sold - like if Coke had to pay Pepsi royalties becasue they used their formula (EDGAR Dec 2008)

Next, timing is key as when to come to market with your product, and could be the difference of success or failure. Our society is in the midst of a 'Green Revolution' right now, and many nations will be banning incandescent light bulbs in the next four years, including the U.S.

Furthermore in terms of timing, 'As Seen on TV' brands have been uptrending all year. They are now a full retail force in of themsevles, as 2009 was a breakout year for DRTV brands (i.e. do you remember seeing 'As Seen on TV' brands at Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and Target in years past?). While shopping this week check out these retailers' Christmas in-store ad circular's and notice all the critical ad space given to 'As Seen on TV' brands - check out Walgreen's front page Christmas ad for example:

4 weeks ago CNBC had a special on the growth of the DRTV market all about this success:

ZVTK is selling their Ionic Bulb amid one of the largest markets on earth - light bulbs, the patent holder works with the company, ZVTK will get royalties from their biggest competitor, and their ionic Bulb will have the 'As Seen on TV' logo on the front of its package right when this logo is red hot in retail - all the while at the same time countries are banning CFL's main competition: incandescent light bulbs...

That's why ZVTK has been referred to as 'The Perfect Storm'...the potential for 2010 and beyond is epic imho...

Sentiment : Strong Buy
