i am an electrician- compact floresent is transitional technology between standard incandesent and led. the goal being to completely phase out incandesent lighting eventually even losing its UL listing.with the mercury in c.f. lighting and led's lack of heat and very low watts required versus light output, led is clearly the answer, imo. some led bulbs come with a 10 yr warranty and can last 20 years.
