It's becoming quite apparent that the people who fly have reason to fear terrorists. Unfortunately, the terrorists they are most likely to face are wearing uniforms, draw salary, and carry out instructions from government mandated security administrators. Their weapon of choice is stupidity: a weapon for which there is no defence.

When I travel, who do I think will put me in the most danger: someone who will fly the plane into civilian targets on the ground (last year's idea) or an overly zealous idiot carrying out absurd orders to confiscate the metal in my molars? And remember, one wrong word, one wrong gesture, or one wrong breath, and I'm dragged away in handcuffs, facing jail, fine, a criminal record, or worse. The missed flight, the strip-search, the public humiliation are minor inconveniences.

If George McGovern, a nationally know public figure can be detained and miss his flight, what chance do I have? If octogenarian ladies have their handbags emptied on the floor and octogenarian war heros are strip-searched because shrapnel implanted in their bodies trip the metal detectors, (shrapnel received while defending their nation), what are the chances of a younger woman with a sharp tongue and a short fuse will get through?

Osama Bin Laden has won. His latest recruits are busy. The public gets to pay their wages. His work (destroying American freedom) proceeds without interruption.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. I stumbled upon this... #reply-17840353 More of the same.
