Dont forget they make a profit on every share they facilitate the trade for also. They make money all 3 ways! If its not moving they dont make anything! They are there for themselves, facilating the trades is probably more of a pain in their scheme. My brokarge stated they receive 1/100 of a cent for every share they do a trade for. The real profit for the MM lies in the movement of PPS and where they can manipulate the price to. They can hold as many shares as they like but take on the same inhereant risk as we do. Although at this point in time after several minpulations he should be playing with the houses money imo!
