I absolutely agree that in 20 years the average person in the US could very well be poorer than today. However that is a result of too much central planning as that is the direction the United States has been moving for the past several decades. This is contrasted with China who is moving a way from central planning. Market reforms initiated by Deng in the 70's have pulled hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in China.
