Come on Profit guy, you can do better, I have not heard Kerry saying he "wants" gay marriages, but we know for sure that the Republicans speak one way (no gay marriages) and do the other (Cheney's daughter, active in the Bush campaign and openly gay). Character assassination works both way. The current crop of Republicans must have the good old "forked tongue" in their mouth. God, how far hath my party strayed from the righteous paths of old.
As far as I know, all Kerry said is that relationships between gay people, to the extent that they want "special" joint rights, is a matter for the states, not a subject to a constitutional amendment. Do you think we need a constitutional amendment forbidding what you call "gay marriage"? Then be consistent and have the same amendment forbidding masturbation (and get the feds into our teenagers' bedrooms with cameras to enforce it) and any extra marital "fornication". As a matter of fact, if the amendment you propose would be comprehensive, I might support it on "religious grounds". Add to it forbidding consumption of pork as well.
