Somatic Systems, Inc. Announces Contract with U.S. Military


NORTHAMPTON, MA— (Marketwire - December 10,2009 ) — Somatic Systems, Inc. (SMAS - news) is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a contract worth approximately 6million(USD) for 4 years with the U.S. military in an effort to help relieve soldiers of chronic pain. Nationwide more than 60 percent of nearly 275,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who sought care from the Veterans Administration reported muscular problems, mostly from back and joint pain.

More than 3.4 million active-duty uniformed personnel serve in the four branches of the Department of Defense, representing a potential multi-billion dollar pain relief market. The Clinical Somatics™ technique combats unnecessary muscular contraction and associated pain often resulting from traumatic injury or chronic stress.
