Every ID has to be sent through any protocoll to any server. There is no other way to send an Index to a server!

Google is not using a diret link like:
www.google.com/places
and the user has to do the search for the specific store be himself by entering e.g. the store name in the google search field.
This would be a direct encoding of an URL.

But this is not the convenient, powerfull way which has been invented by NeoMedia technicans 15 years ago - in parallel and in some cases before the invetion of the internet!!!

The important fact is that an ID is resolved at the server from the predefined Database.

Another key issue is that the search (or better finding) process is initiated by a wireless device (in this case a mobile phone)and is using a code modulated with an index (QR Code including the resolution servicer IP adress represented through an URL and the index).
This is an excerpt of the wording from the patent paper.

Google is using an indirect resolution service for "their" QR-Codes they issued to the stores - their own indirect resolution service.
