I am sure you all know this, but just pointing out that if there is a smaller number of shares, let say 200, for sale at a point lower than the ask but not showing because of the small number of shares offered, if one puts in an order at market or at a limit above the ask, the order will first be filled by those cheaper shares and, thus, one can get filled below the ask even when their limit order is above the ask.
