chipguy is a little bent out of shape by the rejection of Itanium in the marketplace.

But for the sake of argument, let's forget the customers making independent choices, and voting for first viable alternative to Itanium. Let's think Intel management. They looked at their Itanium portfolio, then they looked at AMD spec, and Intel management decided that it is a better bet to become a second source of AMD64 processors then continuing to push Itanium.

And now, somehow, chipguy is trying to spin this as some kind of Intel victory over AMD.
