A phrase coined by Peter Lynch, the uber-manager of Fidelity Magellan fund in the '70s & '80s. He grew it from $14 million to $18 billion in assets. Liked to look for what he called, "10 baggers" (like baseball bases), 1000% gainers. He was a big proponent of using one's common sense to find big winners in the everyday world around, noticing the store that's expanding, the hot product everyone seems to be buying, not outsmarting oneself, not being unduly swayed by "experts".
