Just kidding. I know, my lame attempt at humor. The birds we raised were more tame, as you said, when kept alone. When we paired them up with an opposite sex bird they became more territorial and a bit less tame. the best ones though, even after paired for breeding still knew who loved them. I even had one(mibbetts)that would go outside, actually fly into my maple tree and refuse to come down. Until i would whistle the Andy Griffith theme song. I,d whistle it to him, and he was putty in my hands. That guy loved nuts as most do. Anyway when Joyce would come home from grocery shopping, mibbitts would go through the grocery bags until he found his dry roasted nuts, and then set there and cry until she opened them and gave him a few. he he
