That's the feature I'd been yapping about for a long time now. Once you've got a good base flash memory card in your camera, but are going to take more pictures than it can hold on an outing, you've got three choices: buy more flash memory cards, carry your laptop with you, or .... carry and iPod that would enable you to dump photos directly from camera.

If Apple offered that feature, it winds up benefitting from the "hmmm, I can either buy more CF memory cards, or .... I could skip that and just apply the $$ toward buying an iPod Photo edition to carry along" mindset.

No way should iPod owners be forced to spend another $100 for a 3rd party "converter" and then suffer from carrying around another bulky add-on device. Shaving off fractions of an inch on the size of the iPod is completely negated if you're forced to carry crappy add-ons for full integrated functionality.
