My opinion and reasons:

1. Verde may make the show as a car, but it will have a Ford V-8 engine. (Doug's engine is an option for the car)

2. A model of the Pelmear engine will be on a stand next to the Verde car or clay model, which ever it is. (NW Ohio College is building an engine model as we speak)

Note: You can't even have a battery hooked up in a display car, any power required must come from Cobo Hall. So there really isn't any need for the car to be operational.
