To be clear...any CC program is nothing more than a shake down/re-distribution scam. Large carbon footprint/polluters are forced to buy CC's from small footprint outfits...companies that are fairly low or no tech and will likely remain that way. That's why sewing up additional claims is very beneficial for SGCP even if the most they ever do with them is plant a few of the "chosen" trees and get out of the way. They basically get $omething for being nothings. The companies who sucked into buying CC's in the first place continue to pollute so nothing is solved...but hey..they bought credits so it's ok. They also pressure other similar companies to join in. After all, they certainly don't want to suffer this insult alone. Meanwhile, the Al Gores of the world push for legislation to force participation. And why not? They glean millions upon millions of dollars in brokerage fees...a piece of every scam credit traded.
