If Steve Jobs was that smart he would have done that with the Mac and OSuX…

You forget, of course, that "OSuX", didn't even come out until after Windows became the dominant OS. To open it to all hardware at that point in time would have likely been suicide for Apple (unless that was your aim).

Flash forward ten years and it looking like an even shrewder idea.
