What if MMs don't have any shares to sell and fill all the orders coming in. Won't the MM short the stock to fill the order? Now once that is done the MM has to find shares from someone at a lower price so they can cover their short position and make some coin. So they show the buys as sells at lets say .0009. Then as you say someone sees that who already has shares and in a panic goes to sell them and now the MMs buy those shares at .0008. And that also shows as a sell. And now it is on like donky kong. JMHO
