VA. Beach has a seawall to help protect the hotels built on the beach and they have to almost constantly pump sand from the south end of the beach back up to the north end.

The surf was crashing on the seawall and the spray was hitting the windows of the hotels.

At last report the storm had washed almost all of the sand off of the beach all the way up to the seawall.
