It depends on what kind of buyout it is. There are many but below are a few examples for you. If you have questions let me know and I will try and answer.

1)all cash? ACTC trades at $1.00. Company X aquires ACTC for $2.00/ share. Multiply whatever shares you own by $2..

2)all stock? ACTC trades for $1.00. Acquiring company stock trades at $10.00 They value the acquisition at $2.50 per every ACTC share. So, for every 4 shares you own of ACTC you get one share of acquiring company.

3)cash and stock? You would get so much in cash(premium to ACTC stock price, usually) and so many shares of acquiring company.
