I think with these you want to create last second buying pressure with the "stocking stuffer" notion.
If someone said get your stocking stuffers now, you might tell him to buzz off and never think of it again like changing the channel on a commercial.
But if you get the timing just right as people are thinking and worrying about ideas that is when the power of advertising is king.
