Every successful new product to market always has its imitators. In response to a suggestion from spinnaker, here is the reply I received from Ryan Battis when doing my own d/d some time ago:

"As for reverse engineering our Dazer Laser products, we have designed and engineered our devices so that if you were to take apart the device, the electronics, optics, lasers, etc. would all fall apart and you would be left with a pile of electrical wires, plastic, metal, batteries and laser parts. An engineer trying to reverse engineer this would have no more than this pile. Even if he/she were able to figure out what the parts were, it would not be able to be effectively reconstructed to the point of a fully functioning device. Also, with certain security features our device has built in, the lasers would not become active until certain steps are taken, which are unique to each specific device. We understand how certain parts of the world do not care for many laws whatsoever, and that has been taken into heavy consideration in how we designed and engineered our products."
