NVidia claimed that its existing license covered QuickPath chipsets and Intel disputed the scope of the license asserting that QuickPath products were not covered.

I think the real dispute was that nVidia wanted a free ride under the old license where it had made a lump sum payment and did not want to pay for a license extension to the QuickPath technology.
