I like this article. The fact that it's targeted at Arkansas, not NYC or LA or Seattle or some other major city/cultural/tech center where 2D barcode acceptance might be expected to take hold first, shows that the rollout of 2D barcodes could possibly be more global (and hopefully quicker) than one might expect with a new technology.

I think there's little doubt it will catch on, but how quickly depends on whether it's first perceived as some sort of chic activity to emulate or as a new, common practice. The introduction of the idea to a more rural location such as Arkansas suggests the latter, IMHO.

I believe Walmart is headquartered in Arkansas, as well.
