It occurs to me that perhaps one of the items I mentioned early on is coming into play. I had suggested that a beneficial usage of barcodes could include the association of a particular symbology to ie; a highly secure application. Such could be the case with the airlines. Anytime someone sees an Aztec code they would instantly recognize it as a secure application, similar to viewing Https: (instead of Http:) within a URL.
May not be the case, however, in each instance with the airlines thus far, I have only viewed Aztec codes.
