I am questioning the significance of the Aztec code in relation to the IATA initiative. In each instance that I have seen 2D codes used by the airlines, only the Aztec code was used, yet in other applications such as retail or typical enterprise apps we have viewed QR code, EZ Code, BeeTag, etc. Even NeoMedia, which has used multiple types of codes in their various campaigns, has ONLY used Aztec codes with the airlines (as far as I have seen).

It occurs to me that perhaps one of the items I mentioned early on is coming into play. I had suggested that a beneficial usage of barcodes could include the association of a particular symbology to ie; a highly secure application. Such could be the case with the airlines. Anytime someone sees an Aztec code they would instantly recognize it as a secure application, similar to viewing Https: (instead of Http:) within a URL.

May not be the case, however, in each instance with the airlines thus far, I have only viewed Aztec codes.

Best,
