I think the 3-D effect is achieved as the image is rotated on the screen. Still 2-D but fools the mind as the images are rotated in secquence. Just my juess.
I used to be retinal angiographer in a former life and shoot 3-D photos of vessels all the time. Sort of a gimick and no replacement for first hand looking, but to guide a brain surgeon through someone's head in real time will be a gigantic advantage as to the, take a cut analyse, and then give directions. This will cut a 4 hour surgical procedure down to miniutes. Its a good thing.
Not to mention all the other nonmedical applications Dean illuded too.
Dean said he will not take orders for the machine till they get the FDA nod.
He sure as hell can take orders from Homeland security if he wanted. Or boarder controll purposes. I wish I could have asked him that on the comfrence call, maybe next time.
He said they have nonmedical marketing in the works, but didn't throw us a bone there the call ended at that point.
