I wish Intel all the best in its efforts to reduce leakage and increase binsplits at lower voltages but knowing the current situation helps to dampen unrealistic future expectations. I told RWT regulars for months that it would take a mountain of voltage for 130nm Itanium to get past 1.6 GHz based on the published shmoo graph. When the truth hit I like to think some fans were at least prepared for the resulting disappointment of dashed high expectations. Prescott is a totally different beast to Pentium-M and K8 in terms of power characteristics and this should not be remotely underestimated.
