I'm getting the file as an exe I think. I signed up for the re-download service so I can download it from Digital River again in the future.

I don't think that I have a flash drive big enough for Windows 7. I have external notebook drives but I really don't want to make a partition and bootable from it.

Supposedly I can just run the executable from the system disk if I want to try an upgrade and that's what I'll try first. I do expect that to fail though. Fortunately Dell includes the Vista distribution and all of the drivers and programs on DVDs. I would rather not have to reinstall everything and upgrade.
