rocky......thanks for that. Unfortunately it doesn't totally clear up the issue for me. I was trying to find out if the company was undergoing an informal investigation that it had not reported to shareholders.....by the way, I believe that reporting such was NOT required.
It would've been nice if your link clearly said that a formal could not commence without being preceded by an informal, but instead it only hints at the answer:
FORMAL INVESTIGATIONS
"The primary reason the SEC will pursue a formal investigation is to gather evidence it could not obtain during the informal investigation so that it can take necessary action against an alleged violator."

"primary" doesn't quite address my concern. If the answer is there and I missed it, please point it out.
