As for your observations on your journey north, I experience the same sense of doom in my little part of nj. I'm in the northwest corner abutting the Delaware Water Gap area. We are what is left of "rural" nj. There are a lot of hunters here. They are well-prepared for and wary of the "invasion".

I do not own a weapon other than my kitchen knives. They won't be much help against a gun. Oh well. I pray it doesn't get that bad.

I, for one, do not fear zero siccing the military on us. They hate him. They're more likely to knock him off to protect the rest of us than to follow orders to suppress us. Maybe I'm just a dreamer, but I need to cling to a little hope these days.

Your Maine suggestion has legs. I have childhood friends in the form of a family up there who've offered to help me resettle. One of the daughters and I are still close. She's down here too. I'm not ready to bail yet. I love my little area of this state. It is what nj was like in the 50s when I was a child.

Guess I'll ride it out for now. The outcome of the gubernatorial race will be a big factor in my plans.
