Thanks, AKvetch, for the useful link. I had not seen the
text yet. Regarding Pitt's speech:

Pitt's posture is a major factor in my raising the questions
I did.

Quickly preventing destruction of documents at Worldcom was
a wise act, I think.

Pitt does not mention quick action with respect to ex-officers, however.
How do you interpret Pitt's actions
and statetments? Are ex-officers thoroughly protected by
the "corporate veil?" Is the personal sale of Worldcom shares by insiders, in
markets with asymmetrical appreciation of the material inaccuracy
of financial statements, a lawful act? Or, do you understand from
Pitt's statements that
SEC is earnestly pursuing a wide range of charges against
ex-officers? Are we peering through smoke and mirrors, evasive
or distracting verbiage, instead of seeing vigorous law enforcement
be imposed on financial criminals?

I am more than a little concerned that we may be failing
to enforce existing laws. This failure would cause irreparable harm
to the rule of law and the fabric of our economy, in my
opinion.

Now; I have given too much of my opinion. I am far more interested
in the opinions of the threadsters here.

Thanks,
Aquarius
