Right, averaging down is buying more shares at a cost that is lower than shares you previously purchased so that your total average cost per share is lower.

Flipping your position doesn't gain you anything except a loss (in my current case) or a gain (short term with a big tax hit).

If the gain is large enough some traders will sell enough of their position to recover the initial cost of the investment. They now have so called "free shares". Doing this can lower your stress level but it also greatly lowers your potential gains. Everyone has to find the balance that is right for them.

Fish oil contains the omega-3 fatty acids, but the original source is algae, which are eaten by marine life such as copepods and are passed up the food chain.
