I think he was asking if it was ok under GAAP. As to whether or not AMD adopts this policy is up to the company. GAAP doesn't really care, so long as whatever acceptable policy is adopted remain constant over time. It is similar to making a selection of using LILO or FILO when accounting for inventory.
