OK....here is the deal. I called as well and they said they have had hundreds of calls. The lady said, "we don't know of any connection with Softnet Technology, and we are investigating it."

This doesn't sound promising, but doesn't mean its a scam. There could have been some under the radar things going on. And if a project isn't complete or worth releasing a PR over, the board would keep it silent until it was.

Its a bummer, but I think i'll just hold anyways.
